The 2015 Special Olympics World Games (www.la2015.org), which concluded August 2nd, is the world’s largest sports and humanitarian event this year and the biggest event to hit Los Angeles since the 1984 Olympic Games.
COR Foundation and friends* were on the ground floor as we captured 6,500 smiling athletes representing 165 countries with their signature “Reach Up” stance, 30,000 vibrant volunteers as they endured 90 degree weather without breaking their smiles, and opening ceremony headliners Stevie Wonder, Avril Lavigne, and O.A.R. to name a few.
LA welcomed the world, but it was not crafted overnight. Months leading up to the games, the COR team was invited to spend some time with the hardworking SOWG2015 staff. The world games brought in over 500,000 spectators, and we wanted to spotlight those that worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make it all happen. So we asked “Why?”
“Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt”
